Flow Exporter
Overview
Monitoring network flows used to require high-end switching and routing hardware. Flow Exporter can help you monitor and optimize your network by exporting CISCO NetFlow datagrams to up to 16 flow collectors. Flow Exporter 1.4 was released on June 23, 2011.
Using either a live interface or a previously-captured PCAP file as input, Flow Exporter exports flows on port 2055/UDP in either Netflow v5 or v9 format.
Features
Works with capture files or network interfaces. Flow Exporter can be used to export flows from a live deployment or from PCAP capture files. Have old captures sitting around? Turn them into NetFlow quickly using our Flow Exporter.
Fast: An efficient implementation means fewer dropped packets, and more accurate NetFlow reporting. Uses minimal RAM and CPU resources, allowing you to deploy on any server or workstation for monitoring of any passing traffic without affecting system performance.
IPv6: Captures and reports on both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic (if used with NetFlow v9) and can export to any IPv6 collector. Compatible with all NetFlow v5 and NetFlow v9 capable collectors.
Specify IFindex: NEW Specifiy which IPs and CIDR blocks map to which interface index. This can also be used to group blocks of addresses for more convenient monitoring!
Multidestination: Export NetFlow records to up to 16 different collectors. Simply specify the destinations, and our Flow Exporter will report to all of them.
All platforms: whether you have Windows (with WinPcap), MacOS, Linux, Solaris; whether is is 32-bit or 64-bit; whether you’re running on a physical machine or a virtual machine… as long as it has a network connection, we capture the packets and send out NetFlow.
Usage Note
Make sure to plug your computer into a TAP or SPAN port on your switch; alternatively, use a hub, or run Flow Exporter directly on your router. (Packets that cannot be seen by your computer will not be accounted for in the NetFlow exports).
